Part 1 of The Annals of Holden Secretbees was written in 2012 by Chris Cudnowski and Tye Swokowski during their sophomore year of high school. One year prior, they had been assigned to complete a novel for NaNoWriMo. When it was once again November, they decided to give it another go. This time, however, they would work on a story together, that way they only had to write half as much.
Part 1 follows Holden as he tries to win enough money to pay for his mom's appendix cancer treatment, oblivious to the fact that it's covered by their insurance.
Though a little basic, Part 1 lays the groundwork for the early parts of the series.
